Introduction

As a starting point, Jeff Keller’s career transition story is explored in the book “Attitude is Everything”. Jeff Keller’s desire to change his life was fueled by his experience as a lawyer for many years, yet not like the flow of life.

To make it easy to understand and remember, Jeff Keller, describes our attitude as – “Your attitude is your window to the world.” Jeff believes that as we age, the window through which we see the world starts to get muddy because of Criticism, self-doubt, rejections, disappointment, etc. The problem arises when many of us don’t do anything to clear our windows. We left our window covered in the dirt of negativity. Therefore, keeping your windows clean is essential to living a fulfilling life.

Moreover, ‘Attitude is Everything’ is mainly divided into three parts to make it stress-free for the readers to come back and re-read the learnings offered in the book:

Part 1: Success begins in the mind – explains how our attitudes are shaped by what we think. Additionally, it demonstrates our power of thinking, which ultimately leads to action and makes our destiny a reality.

Part 2: Watch your words – is the step forward and discuss how what we speak to ourselves and others is as important as what we think.

Lastly, part 3: Heaven helps those who act – underlines everything boils down to ‘Actions’ to achieve whatever you wish. In order to reap the benefits of your thoughts, your words and your learning, you must know how to act in order to achieve the result.

“Positive thinking doesn’t mean you won’t have any more problems.”

Why did I pick up this Book?

Attitude is Everything by Jeff Keller is one of the most popular books in the self-improvement genre. So, I come across book lines from this book quite often. Consequently, I added this book to my ‘To Read’ list because of these quotes and lines. One day, I stumbled across this book while scrolling through the E-book offers, and I grabbed it right away.

What did I like about the Book?

  • To begin with, Jeff Keller defined and discussed different things about ‘Attitude’ in a very notable manner. Throughout the book, the author uses examples to explain what the book is teaching.

  • Furthermore, various outstanding quotes and thoughts by different personalities are included in the book, making it even more impressive.

  • Furthermore, the language used in the book is simple to read and understand.

“Think of your attitude as the mental filter through which you experience the world.”

What did I dislike about the Book?

There is nothing I specifically disliked about the book. The book ‘Attitude is Everything’ is well-written and well-defined by the author, Jeff Keller. Interestingly, the teachings in the book are very similar to what I believe about life as a whole. However, as a constant reader of Self-Improvement books, I didn’t find anything extraordinary new in this book. In other words, we can say that what makes this self-help book different from other self-help books is not the content but the way the author taught that content.

What did I learn and take away from this Book?

The book ‘Attitude is Everything’ contains a wealth of information. A few learnings that I took away from this are:

  • Positive thinking neither erases your negative thoughts altogether nor helps you to achieve your goals overnight.

  • Even when you have things to be grateful for in life, there will be times when you might start taking those things for granted. Along with being grateful, you must learn to swiftly reconnect with those blessings when you recognise you are taking them for granted.

  • You won’t achieve anything by complaining about things that are out of your control, such as the weather – except for making people distance themselves with you because of those irrelevant complaints.

You see, when you change your attitude, sparks fly in the universe. You’re energized. You begin to see new possibilities. You move into action. You achieve extraordinary results. That’s why I say when you change your attitude, you change your life!

Conclusion

To conclude, Attitude is Everything by Jeff Keller is a great read to improve your attitude towards life, others and most importantly yourself. This book is ideal for someone who wants to begin reading in the self-help and self-improvement genre. Lastly, as the book says, taking action is vital to bring change in your life. Therefore, you will only be able to benefit from this self-help book if you apply the lessons in your life and act upon them.
