Introduction

Have you ever heard that saying which goes like – “Meeting the right person at the wrong time?” Anushkaa and Ayush both experienced this saying in their life.

Fresh out of college, Anushkaa has just stepped into the corporate world. On her first day at work, she meets Ayush, and they feel a spark between them instantly. However, life is never simple, right? Both of them had someone in their life then. So, the spark they felt towards them just became a forbidden fruit. You can want it, but you know you can’t have it!

Yet, four years later, they met again. But this time, with broken hearts. While being a listening ear to each other, they start becoming a strength to each other, healing their hearts in between.

At last, when they start believing everything is falling into place, life plays a cruel card.

The Book “Diary of My Love by Deesha Sangani,” starts with the sad reality of Anushkaa. Then, she takes the readers back to Anushkaa’s past – her college life, her first meeting with Ayush, her reconnection phase with Ayush, and then to the present again.

In all the ups and downs, Anushkaa’s diary is what holds her together. Writing is her solace, and her diary is her secret keeper.

Why did I pick up this Book?

I am a sucker for romance novels, and I am on a mission to explore as much as Indian Authors as I can! Moreover, the title of the book took my attention. Being a Writer and a lover of Diaries (Even though I can never develop a habit of writing daily in a diary or keeping journals), I am always up for a read in this genre.

What did I like about the Book?

  • Bits and pieces of Anushkaa’s Diary in between are heartfelt and beautiful.

  • The cover of the book did justice to the title of the book very well.

  • Along with the Diary pages, the Author, Deesha Sangani, included some beautiful lines and thoughts in the book, the harsh truths about life.

What did I dislike about the Book?

  • The book is written in a simple language. Although I appreciate the simple vocabulary usage, I felt the book was not properly edited and proofread.

  • Next is repetitions. The author repeated the same thing multiple times. For example, mentioning again and again by Anushkaa about “Writing is my Therapy.”

  • Moving forward, the transition between the past and the present was a bit complicated. It took me a while to get hold of it. It was almost like the Author was in a hurry to get on the next thing.

What did I learn and take away from this Book?

Life is full of uncertainties, and we never know what lies ahead. The key is to keep moving forward. We can pause and maybe stop for a while, but at the end, we have to press the ‘Restart/Replay’ button again!

Conclusion

To summarise, the book, “The Diary of My Love by Deesha Sangani” was not a good read for me. Even after understanding the emotional turmoil of Anushkaa and Ayush, I failed to connect with them. The writing style and the rushed pace of the book could have been better. Personally, I won’t be recommending this book to anyone, but if you are also on the journey to explore Indian Authors as much as you can, or if you are new to the reading, then go ahead and give this book a read.
